It's late but I've got one tip I wanted to share. Some papers require British english, but switching the language can often cause weird problems in word when using track changes. Sometimes it will mark every single sentence in track changes with the "language changed" which really busies up the paper and is generally annoying. What I started doing for British papers was first highlight everything (ctrl+A) then select UK english with spell check on, THEN turn on track changes. Tada, problem solved.
